2010 PBA DRAFT: WHAT THEY NEED - TALK N TEXT TROPANG TEXTERS

(Note: This is the last of ten installments. Visit the homepage of the site to find out the reviews of the other PBA squads)

This is a team that always looks good on paper.

Always… on paper.

This would bug Talk N Text fans but the last time they won a championship was when Macmac Cardona played awesomely. Problem is, Macmac is now playing elsewhere. Come to think of it, they suddenly lost a scorer in the guard spot. Sure, they can elevate Jared Dillinger, Ryan Reyes, or Jason Castro in the starting position but what will happen when they unload Kelly Williams to the Smart-Gilas squad?

Who could become their "answer"?

TEAM STATS:
PHILIPPINE CUP: QUARTERFINALS
FIESTA CUP: SEMIFINALS

DRAFT PICKS:
FIRST: FOURTH

CURRENT DEPTH CHART:
TOP 5: JIMMY ALAPAG, RYAN REYES, KELLY WILLIAMS, HARVEY CAREY, RANIDEL DE OCAMPO
RELIEF: JASON CASTRO, AARON ABAN, MARK YEE, JARED DILLINGER, ALI PEEK

WHAT THEY NEED:

They have the immediate need to fill up their SG position. They will likely suffer without Cardona or Williams in the roster. Perhaps the best choice would be taking a player from the SG/SF position. With Rabeh Al-Hussani, Nonoy Baclao, and Elmer Espiritu possibly gone, they could grab SEAN ANTHONY to fill the void in their SG/SF spot. They can also select JOSH VANLANDINGHAM, JIMBO AQUINO, REY GUEVARRA, JOHN WILSON and RJ JAZUL to fill their shooter/slasher spots. If they want to go big, perhaps the only choices feasible are FORD ARAO and PARI LLAGAS. Llagas’ offensive game has vastly improved and Arao is a wide body that can defend in the shaded area.

There was a rumor that Chot Reyes and Macmac Cardona have some sort of a rift (Ateneo versus La Salle) which was enough for Reyes to accept the idea of letting Captain Hook go. But for the first time in years, TNT doesn’t look so threatening compared to the other squads.

They are still a force though.

Chemistry just like in any case would be the answer if they want to exceed everyone’s expectations.

Game over.
