November 3, 2010 - Kobe scores a triple-double!

Gak! Am I doing a Kobe Bryant love post?

One of the biggest misconceptions in Kobe Bryant’s game is him being a one dimensional player. Sure, Kobe’s ability to light up the Lakers’ scoreboard is his biggest upside but there are a lot of things this Black Mamba can do.

For example: Did you know that Kobe Bryant has 16 triple-doubles?

Make that 17.

Kobe Bryant saved my Fantasy team’s poor showing by registering 30 points, 10 rebounds, and 12 assists for the LA Lakers in their 112-100 win over the Sacramento Kings. Black Mamba became the third player in this young season to achieve such feat. The first to score the feat this season was Rajon Rondo who managed to claim almost triple-double numbers against the Milwaukee Bucks (17 points, 8 rebounds, 15 assists) on that same day and Brandon Jennings.

Bryant will have games where he’ll struggle just like his previous game against Memphis (although you can’t say he’s struggling because when the outcome was safely in favor of the Lakers he was conveniently benched), but expect him to pop a monster output when given the chance.

LA’s next assignments comprise of Toronto, Portland, and Minnesota.

I don’t know if he can achieve the feat but for the sake of NBA Fantasy, I hope Phil Jackson won’t bench Bryant when the outcome is surely in their favor.

Game over.
