Paul will alienate people

Time to unleash the awesome.

And for the first time... that awesome is not me.

I am an ardent fan of Simon Pegg and his trusty tag team partner Nick Frost. Shaun of the Dead made me love his awesomeness that was already picking when I saw the duo snapping those ammunitions on those old people in Hot Fuzz.

The duo are back to cross the American scenery with gusto in Paul. While I fear they would mimic Stephen Chow’s kind of crappy film CJ7, I want to the two to break into US cinema. Sure, Pegg is in Star Trek, Mission Impossible, and Ice Age but he has yet to make his mark as the leading role. He’ll also bring in longtime buddy Nick Frost, who’ll probably compete with Mark Addy as the fat, funny Brit.

The film is about two tourists that stumbled upon an alien that is being pursued by the government. The learn that the alien is like a stoner and they offer him assistance in their quest to save his ass from being federally raped.

Paul brings in a bunch of my favourite funny people like Arrested Development’s Jason Bateman and Jeffrey Tambor, Saturday Night Live’s Bill Hader and Kristin Wiig, Glee’s Jane Lynch, The Office’s David Koechner (also in The Weatherman), and original Alien hunter, Sigourney Weaver. But perhaps their best guy in the scene is Seth Rogen. I am a fan of those guy from the Judd Apatow universe and I’ve been a fan of Seth since I saw Freaks and Geeks, Undeclared, Knocked Up, Superbad, 40-Year Old Virgin, Zack and Miri Do A Porno, and Pineapple Express.

Their tandem helped me bridge my fascination for new age British Comedies with smart American comedies.

Hopefully this film will become landmark movie and not a disaster.

Game over.
