Do you
really wanna piss off Karl Malone?
Really?
Coming
from the heels of Jerry Sloan’s
resignation, Karl Malone comes to his former coach’s aid. Arguably one of
the best power forwards to play the game, The Mailman is furious over the
events that transpired.
In an
interview made by the NBA, the obviously-agitated Malone stated that Sloan was
not a quitter. He thinks to a certain degree that Sloan could have grown tired
from all the “garbage” the players hurled at him.
"They changed the floor back to
old school. They changed the uniform back to old school. Somebody tell the damn
players to start playing like old school."
This was
what Malone said in reference to the new uniforms the Jazz had this season
which resembles to that worn by Pistol
Pete Maravich during their New
Orleans Days.
Karl Malone
and John Stockton’s partnership
would have been repeated by the tandem of Deron
Williams and Carlos Boozer.
While Boozer had every intention to leave the Jazz during the preseason, Deron
was pissed because the Jazz traded his version of Byron Russell – Ronnie Brewer
– to the Memphis Grizzlies
(ultimately he ended up playing for the Chicago
Bulls alongside Boozer). David
Aldridge has said in his article that Sloan has always demanded the best
from his pointguards which would have been the root of his problems with Deron.
"You're a professional," said
Malone. "You don't need for me to break a film down for you. If you want
to stop the guy you're playing, they pay you millions of dollars. You get you a
TV and break the player down yourself."
If Deron and company respected Jerry
Sloan, they would have come to his resignation. Seriously, letting him retire inside
a crappy room is overkill. I don’t care how angry you are – the guy was
basically the face of the organization before most of them could ever turn ten!
As Malone said, he is an ambassador of the sport and honestly, Sloan deserves a
ceremony and not that ugly “show” they gave him.
In order to
defend himself from the accusations Deron Williams stated that he shouldn’t be
blamed for what happened to Sloan.
"Maybe
arguing was the last straw, so there I am, guilty of that but I think anybody
who believes I could force Coach Sloan to resign is crazy. He's stronger than
that and personally if I said that to him, he'd probably go tell me to go do
something."
Williams
received a loud round of applause but there also was a smattering of boos.
The
visiting Phoenix Suns spoiled Tyrone Corbin’s debut as the new Utah Jazz
coach.
Hopefully
Deron Williams wouldn’t speak his mind in front of The Mailman. Forget his awesome physique – have you seen his WCW tag team match where he joined
forces with Diamond Dallas Page to
face the New World Order’s Hollywood
Hulk Hogan and Dennis Rodman?
DAMMIT
DERON, KARL MALONE KNOWS HOW TO USE A DIAMOND
CUTTER!
GAME OVER!
