In
1996, acclaimed actor/director Stephen Chow created The God of Cookery.
While he
failed to capture the US audiences when he produced the godawful Dragonball
Evolution, his other titles were famed for bringing out the awesomeness of his
expertise. How about Shaolin Soccer? Kung Fu Hustle? Hail the Judge???
God of
Cookery is a story of a cocky cook who needs to be upstaged and go back to his
roots to become a better cook and person. The film seems to get some of the
reactions from Cooking Master Boy and it grossed 15 million dollars in its
initial run in Hong Kong.
Aside
from Chow, the film also features Karen Mok. She is famous worldwide for her
femme fatale role in So Close.
I like
this movie because of its hilarity and absurdness.
I got
these scenes from Youtube.

This is one of my favorite movies. Of all time! The humor is just so sincere and crazy. And very Pinoy in some ways :D
ReplyDeleteYeah. I agree. It reminds of those Andrew E movies.
