Statmatsing of the Day - April 20, 2011

Smart-Gilas held on for dear life as they won Game 3, 100-88. As the Barangay Ginebra Kings go for the knockout on Sunday, the Nationals are hoping to even the series.

JV Casio went insane in that game by pouring in 30 points, 14 in the third quarter, alongside 3 rebounds, 5 assists, and a steal. He was just hitting and hitting as Ginebra kept hugging Marcus Douthit inside the paint. Douthit was the best reinforcement in the playdate after pulling 25 points, 14 rebounds, 3 assists, and 5 blocks.

Whoever wins on Sunday or Wednesday, will set a date with Talk N Text in the finals. The Tropang Texters resisted Wynne Arboleda’s 28 points, Dondon Hontiveros’ 23 and Danny Seigle’s 21 to finish off their series with a 118-104 score. One major factor as to why the Air21 Express lost was Alpha Bangura’s 8 points.

The other? Jimmy Alapag pouring in the pain with 27 points, 2 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals.

Game over.
