Whenever
Miami contains Dallas to under 90 points,
the Heat trumps the Mavs.
Whenever
Mario Chalmers hits in double
figures, the Heat usually wins.
And
whenever Dwyane Wade top scores for
the Miami Heat, they would lose.
But
then they didn’t.
Dwyane
Wade topscored his squad with 29 points
and Chris Bosh made a clutch jumper
with 41 ticks left to retrieve the
lead of the 2011 NBA Finals. With
the 88 to 86 win, Dallas was forced
to relinquish their dream of finishing the series in their home turf.
Just
like in Games 1 and 2, the Heat got to a hot start and dictated the pace and
Dallas was able to manage to come back from the huge deficit.
Let’s
check out the stats!
NUMBER TEN /
FEAR THE OSTRICH
Just
like what my friend Evilbrain told me, Chris Bosh looks like an ostrich. Say
what you will though – Bosh delivered when it mattered. It was almost
elementary to mock Bosh for his lackluster season but he nailed the shot that
mattered. He finished the game with 18 points and although his 3 rebounds, 1
assist, and 7-of-18 shooting is nothing to brag about, he did nail the game
winner.
NUMBER NINE /
THE FLASH
For
the second straight game, Dwyane Wade the Heat in scoring and this time, he
made sure his efforts won’t be for naught. Wade finished with 29 points, 11
rebounds, 3 assists, a steal, and a block in 39 minutes of gameplay and
12-of-21 shooting. This output was much needed since for the second straight
game, Lebron James struggled to get his points.
NUMBER EIGHT /
DIRK DID IT
Dirk Nowitzki
fought well even in a losing effort. He finished the match with 34 points, 11
rebounds, an assist, a steal, and a block. Sure, he failed to sink what was
supposed to be the match’s equalizer but true enough, Dallas lived and died
with Dirk.
NUMBER SEVEN /
HEAT TO WIN
Whenever
Mario Chalmers hits double figures, the Heat wins the game. Again, Chalmers did
his damage beyond the arc and with Lebron James saddled with a series low 17
points (although he did have 9 assists) the pain of his struggles seemed
tolerable for the Heat.
NUMBER SIX / MAVS
TO LOSE
Dirk
was spectacular in their loss but there were a lot of missing links in their
rotation. Peja Stojakovic continues to become a non-factor while despite
claiming a combined 83 minutes, Shawn Marion and Tyson Chandler for only 15
points, 15 rebounds, 3 assists, and 4 blocked shots. Jason Terry had 15 points
but had a miserable shooting night with 5-out-of-13.
NUMBER FIVE /
SORE AND LOSER
When Dallas
wins, the sore finger is not much of a threat but continuous disappointments
destroy a man’s psyche and it often burdens all aspects of that person. Hopefully
that wouldn’t happen with Dirk.
NUMBER FOUR /
BALLET
It’s
hard to look at a bunch of guys who are so synchronized with their movements.
This is just... wrong.
NUMBER THREE / HEROES
Udonis
Haslem is a hero in his own right for returning in the nick of time and giving
the Heat an extra hand in controlling and defending the inside. As for the
Mavericks, Jason Kidd, Tyson Chandler, and Marion has had their share of good
games but here’s the thing – Miami has three players scoring 60 points and
more. Dallas doesn’t have three players but they got in this situation because of
their team play. Where are those heroes now? Who will step up to give the Mavs
an extra hand?
NUMBER TWO / THE
BRAWN OF LEBRON
After
Game 1, Lebron James has struggled offensively. I have no idea if the scoring
barrage will again be unleashed in Game 4 but let it be known that the only
reason why Dwyane Wade is getting the points is because Lebron is getting
Dallas’ defense. Lebron almost had a double-double in the contest but more than
anything, it is his scoring that would prove crucial to the Heat’s cause.
NUMBER ONE /
NO WALK IN THE PARK
At the
start of the series, everyone was saying that the Miami Heat will ransack the
Dallas Mavericks with great ease. As you have seen, every game played in this
series is hard fought. However, the trend where Miami will have a run in the
first half and then Dallas will fight to even it in the second needs to stop. It’s
not cool to see Dallas squirm in each and every opportunity that arises. For
some insane reason, to further the fuel of their drive, Dallas needs a game
where they will win via romp.
Dallas
needs to win in Game 4. Just when everyone thought that Dallas’ return would
spell trouble for the Heat, the Heat could possibly finish the Mavs in their
home court.
Game
over.
