I did
a blog about the 2010 FHM Philippines 100 Sexiest Women and it gave my blog 40,000 additional hits.
It was
awesome.
And
this year... I’m doing it again.
First
of all, I am not going to grade this in terms of hotness. The fact that their
names showed up on the ballots solidified that argument. But then again, I’m
also going to grade this in terms of what I think about them.
I am
going to treat this just like how I treat the PBA Draft.
All I
know is that you pose for FHM to score celebrity heaven. There are a bunch of starlet
that expose their selves to garner fame. While most of them succeed, a lot of
them find it hard to maintain their success. There are a bunch of factors to
woo and waste a person for posing the mag. The threat of being labelled a mere bombshell
is one, magazine overexposure is another, and indecent proposals should make a
girl wish they wouldn’t pose for FHM.
But
then again, those factors could be good things... depending on which
perspective you are looking at.
Last
year, Angel Locsin topped FHM
Philippines’ Most Sexiest poll.
Now
it’s Sam Pinto.
By the
way, since I am judging this list in terms of bankability, I’m going to hunt
down some of these girls’ TVC. I’m not going to get all of their ads... just
the ones that grabbed my attention.
And another thing: SUPPORT ALL SUMMIT MAGS AND THEIR SPONSORS!
Game
starts now!
NUMBER ONE:
SAM PINTO
Wow.
This is shocking. I wonder what happened to the Angel Locsin and Marian Rivera
fans? I thought for sure one of them would win the poll since Angel is coming
off Imortal and Marian is doing well in Amaya. Sam Pinto can be a decent host
but I don’t know if she’s ready to handle a soap. Either way, she will probably
use this title wisely.
You
know she was this...
But
did you know that she was this?
NUMBER TWO:
MARIAN RIVERA
No
surprise here. She is still the Queen of Primetime and she’s now rivalling Sharon
Cuneta and Kris Aquino in terms of commercials. Last year, I agreed with FHM
and called her the next Maricel Soriano and a bunch of people went livid. In
terms of acting ability, I STILL think she’s the current reincarnation of
Maria. Amaya is a strong show and hordes of people turn out just to see her. Will
we see her pose for FHM? We should say yes... but we’ll probably say no. Sorry
people but unless the people from Summit makes a daring attempt, guys would
have to resort to Cosmo to see her cover.
Here’s
a popular Marian TVC.
Here
is a Marian Rivera blast from the past TVC.
NUMBER THREE:
ANGEL LOCSIN
Again,
another logical choice. For some insane reason, the other channel’s depth chart
is not as solid as it was years ago. This is her chance to own top femme
status. She got a great project in Imortal and hopefully she gets a quick
follow up show. The problem with her stint as a Kapamilya is that she
disappears completely and doesn’t resurface until her next soap. I guess this
is the reason why she dropped two places.
NUMBER FOUR:
CHRISTINE REYES
With
the way her career is going, Christine Reyes is closely resembling the career
of Alma Moreno. You see, Loveliness was the queen of sexy movies (that doesn’t
go overboard) during the late 70’s and early 80’s and Christine has been top
billing a bunch of telenovelas with the same ingredients (that again doesn’t go
overboard). She is also controversial which is also a showbiz term for
relevant.
NUMBER FIVE:
SOLENN HEUSSAFF
Survivor:
Celebrity Edition opened a lot of eyes to Solenn Heussaff. The moment she is
given the opportunity to shine, expect her go all out. However, she needs to
work on her diction if she wants to make a living in doing soap operas. She has
this inane quirkiness where it could work in fish out of water storylines a la
Bodyguard and Notting Hill. She has the makings of becoming the next big thing
if nurtured properly. If there are a bunch of Dayanara Torres soap ideas
available, she could likely own those roles.
NUMBER SIX:
KATRINA HALILI
I was
kind of surprised at this rank because her name wasn’t as loud as it was two or
three years ago. She’s a person people love to hate. After the controversy
marked by many as career suicide, she is back in her comfort zone which is
giving good people hell. After making wonders as Marian Rivera’s chief villain
in Marimar, she is now giving hell to Camille Prats and the kids of Munting
Heredera.
NUMBER SEVEN:
JENNYLYN MERCADO
She
has been lingering in that 7 to 15 spot for a couple of years now. Like what
I’ve been saying, motherhood has treated her well. She is the first Starstruck
winner and she has since been controversial. Her real-life drama thumps a lot
of scripted soap operas that works without the use of special effects. I think
it’s about time for her to star again on a primetime soap.
NUMBER EIGHT:
IWA MOTO
I’m
going to call her Katrina Halili Light. Like Katrina, she’s owning the sexy
villain female persona. And while Katrina is a tad higher than her, Iwa is
trying to obliterate the gap via performances in Dwarfina and Darna (as the
current version of Valentina). The rank is right for Iwa who covered the mag
thrice.
NUMBER NINE:
JACKIE RICE
Ever
since her return to active duty, she has been on a tear. Her FHM cover a year
ago was an indication that she is ready to take her career minus all the
distractions. Last year she starred in Ilumina and this year she’s taking the
lead in Sisid. She is also a mainstay in the popular sketch show Bubble Gang.
NUMBER TEN:
ELLEN ADARNA
Her FHM
cover a few months back was enough to catapult this newcomer to the top of the
standings. Before Bubble Gang, she was an internet discovery. Still raw on the acting part, hopefully she’ll
become better to contend with the other beauties in the list.
NUMBER ELEVEN:
BANGS GARCIA
While
slipping, she remains to be a welcome sight for FHM readers anywhere. However,
after a lead role in Palos, her TV time has decreased. Honestly I don’t know
what network she’s loyal now. Without a profitable TV or movie gig, all the
attention she’s getting with FHM is mere waste.
NUMBER TWELVE:
EHRA MADRIGAL
The
Diz Iz It show was a disaster. After a botched attempt to displace Showtime,
she returned to primetime as the Dingdong Dantes’ horny ex-girlfriend in I
Heart U Pare. Hopefully Ehra can still score acting roles that requires her to
topbill it just like what she did in Lupin.
NUMBER
THIRTEEN: ANGELICA PANGANIBAN
She is
an established star. She can do good roles as well as bad with ease. While I
don’t know if she can still lead a movie, she can certainly play the lead role
on a primetime soap. Her roles are maturing and becoming more serious and with
the way I see it, she is past the bombshell tag.
NUMBER
FOURTEEN: VALERIE CONCEPCION
Her participation
in the list is a given. However, one can’t help whether or not her star has
faded. She was on the verge of having a run as a lead primetime TV actress but
now it looks like she’s being used to play villain for up and coming young
stars.
NUMBER
FIFTEEN: LOVI POE
She is
getting the breaks. I’m fine with this. The problem I have with her is
positioning. Sometimes she does daring and outspoken characters but at times
her character is sweet and laid back. There are a lot of actresses that can
pull this but I think she is one of those characters that need to pick a side.
NUMBER
SIXTEEN: IYA VILLANIA
This
was a pick I thought would have been higher. Ever since she shed her good girl
image, her acting stock rose. If she can’t sustain this “other” level of
acting, she can still have her hosting skills to fall back on. She must realize
that hosting chores are her definite bread and butter.
NUMBER
SEVENTEEN: ANNE CURTIS
She
has a top-rating show, a bunch of endorsements, and acting chops to prove her
credibility and yet, she has trouble reaching the top ten. Like I said in 2010,
it’s a travesty that she is stuck in this position. A FHM cover could boost her
standing but I doubt if she’s going to get through with it.
NUMBER
EIGHTEEN: BIANCA MANALO
Sad to
say that I know little about this former Miss Universe candidate but her FHM
cover stint certainly has done wonders to her career. She recently starred on
the daytime series Juanita Banana. While she may have the tools to lead a soap,
the actress depth chart in her network is deep.
NUMBER
NINETEEN: REGINE ANGELES
Again,
I don’t really know much about her aside from the fact that she has covered the
mag and won the Bench reality show a couple of years back. She’s cementing
comedy bombshell status in the newest reincarnation of Iskul Bukol.
NUMBER TWENTY:
RHIAN RAMOS
Like
Anne Curtis, if I had a way with these polls, she’s going to be on the Top 10.
Rhian is one of the most bankable primetime actresses of GMA. She can juggle
comedy and drama as well as owning a role whether it’s a lead one or a
supporting one. I don’t think she wants to pose for FHM since she’s adamant in
keeping her wholesome image. I don’t blame her.
There
were a lot of bets that were MIA in the upper 20 percent of the list like Maja Salvador, Bea Alonzo, KC Concepcion, Pauleen
Luna, Toni Gonzaga, Michelle Madrigal, Heart Evangelista, Diana Zubiri, Bianca
King, and Kim Chiu.
In
this list you’ll learn a bunch of things.
First
up, several actresses had done their share of crappy commercials.
Second
of all, the barometer of an actress’ success is if they starred in either a
shampoo or a beer ad.
And lastly, if you notice, the FHM, Cosmopolitan, and Men's Health covers virtually look alike.
Ahem.
Will
Sam Pinto do wonders in her new found fame?
For
reactions and violent reactions, say it here.
Until
next year...
Game
over!
