I don't think Magi Sison will end up in the second round but this pose looks to Oblation-like. |
This
is my final mock (finally) of the 2011
PBA Rookie Draft. 36 names have
been released and now that I have seen the second round, now it’s time to
complete this list!
By the
way, most of my choices are virtually the same from my initial draft list.
However, the moment I saw the second round draft order, I was led to believe
that TEAMS WILL PASS!
See if
I had a brain of ten coaching staffs
(or in this case five teams), the
2011 PBA Draft will look at little like this!
(Click the link for the version
that has lots of their images)
1 POWERADE /
JV CASIO
2 RAIN OR
SHINE / PAUL LEE
3 BARAKO BULL
(formerly Air21) / MARCIO LASSITER
4 POWERADE /
MAC BARACAEL
5 SHOPINAS /
CHRIS LUTZ
6 ALASKA /
MARK BARROCA
7 TALK N TEXT
/ JASON BALLESTEROS
8 PETRON /
DYLAN ABABOU
9 GINEBRA /
REIL CERVANTES
10 BARAKO BULL
(formerly Air21) / MAGI SISON
(Click the link for the version
that happened before I saw the final second round draft order list)
11 TALK N TEXT / ERIC
SALAMAT
Despite
the controversy that dragged him off to plagiarising hell, Manny V. Pangilinan
loves his Ateneans. I have no idea how Salamat will fit in this guard-infested
lineup but I’m sure that whatever playing time the Tropang Texters gave Pong
Escobal at the start of his rookie life, Salamat will inherit.
12 ALASKA / ALLEIN MALIKSI
As the
first of many Alaska picks in the second round, Allein Maliksi should have
adequate time with the Aces. Maliksi is the reigning D-League MVP and he played
for the Cebuana Lhuillier Gems which is coached by Luigi Trillo and Bong
Hawkins. Trillo and Hawkins serve as assistants at the Alaska camp.
13 ALASKA / KEN ACIBAR
As if
Alaska isn’t UE-loaded, adding Acibar on their team will give the team size.
Acibar is a good rebounder although I’m thinking that he’ll be more of a
project that anything with the Aces. If he can impress Tim Cone, then that’s
not a bad thing. Take note that for every Elmer Espiritu and Ken Bono that
bombed in Alaska, there are those like Sonny Thoss, LA Tenorio, and Mark
Borboran that slowly got in their system and is now reaping the benefits.
14 ALASKA / JULIUS
PASCULADO
Experiment
time for Alaska. I got one helluva response from this kid and I hope he claims
a spot in this team. Major props if he can play multiple positions because Tim
Cone likes to switch around his players. Chicagoans call Pasculado “The
Tsunami”. If he could at least have the game like what Josh Urbiztondo has at
this moment, then he’ll go places in the PBA.
15 B-MEG / PAMBOY RAYMUNDO
I pity
Raymundo because with Roger Yap, Josh Urbiztondo, and Jonas Villanueva in the
Llamados’ lineup, he’ll pretty much end up with less minutes. However, you
can’t fault B-Meg for drafting the best player left in the draft. Like I said,
his winning tradition should awe people. Hopefully Pamboy wouldn’t get wasted
in this team.
16 ALASKA / MARVIN GRAEBEL
The
guy has size and is a Fil-Foreigner. The Aces might have that guy in the
presence of Mike Burtscher but hopefully he can be a diamond in the rough for
the Aces to use in the future. He is one of the “draft-able” big men left in
this frontline-shallow draft.
17 BARAKO BULL / JAMES
MARTINEZ
The
Barako Bull squad will be lucky if teams have yet to snag this former UE
Warrior. James Martinez’ stock might have lessened ever since that injury that
robbed him in participating in the 14-0 elimination round romp of UE in the
UAAP but I can’t really see this guy getting left out of the draft.
18 GINEBRA / GILBERT
BULAWAN
I
liked this guy’s chances to be at the upper second round of the draft if teams
like Rain or Shine were still there. But anyway, Ginebra will use this former
San Sebastian Stag wisely. He’ll likely be banked on the bench, get miniscule
playing time, and hopefully prevail at the odds stacked on him. However, Rob
Labagala is the epitome of a less than stellar star who rose from the ranks to
win the hearts of the Gin faithful. Bulawan has that ability.
19 BARAKO BULL / CHRIS
PESTANO
Pestano
is an experiment that could land Barako Bull the draft’s biggest steal. The guy
plays forward/center in Canada which means he can give the Bulls someone to
give Dorian Pena a chance to slowly heal his injuries. I haven’t seen him in
action but I welcome surprise packages.
20 TALK N TEXT / MARC AGUSTIN
I
honestly think Marc Cagoco deserves to be drafted. However seeing that this is
Talk N Text and at best the Tropang Texters will give him the practice player
spot, let’s give this pick to someone more deserving... MARC AGUSTIN. Yes,
despite Agustin’s far-from-Atom Bomb-like stints with Adamson and Liga
Pilipinas, Chot Reyes may find something for Agustin to do. Now I don’t know if
Reyes is a vengeful spirit but I’m pretty sure he’ll use Marc Agustin for bad
(he’ll likely end up as a practice player) or for good (train the son until he
becomes good and use it to thwart his father’s championship hopes).
Number
20 is more of a dream rather than a prediction.
I hope
my other picks will land at least a 50 percent success rate.
Catch
the draft on AKTV this August 28!
Game
over!
Wow... Such high praises for our boy :h I like the vote of confidence... i hope they televise the camp so you can keep us posted on how everyone is doing
ReplyDeletegee i dunno. usually they only feature the highlights on the draft proper. the broadsheets usually chime in news with regards to whom perform how at the rookie camp.
ReplyDeleteOur boy did well today, based on the facebook buzz here. Said he topped the 50M sprint and the shooting drill? Your thoughts Syd?
ReplyDeletehmmm... i think he did well. however, most sure "draft-ables" usually take these drills lightly (especially since the gilas boys can't risk getting injured). one they do the practice games then this is where the praises really rain.
ReplyDeletecamps are great because unknowns get noticed. one player that benefited from a rookie camp is harvey carey.
we're crossing our fingers... seems theres alot of buzz bout juju now....
ReplyDeleteactually turns out he is doing well at the rookie camp. he churned out 9 of his 11 points in one quarter which created buzz.
ReplyDeletethings are looking good for this guy.
